CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES – Saturday November 5th – Sunday November 6th, 2016 Location: El Camino College, 16007 Crenshaw Blvd, Torrance, CA, 90506 Cost of entry: Free Time: 8am to 5.30pm Saturday, 8.30am to 3pm Sunday The event will be streamed for free and live around the globe. "I'm really excited to bring the globally popular sport of Netball to a larger stage here in Los Angeles, which is the fastest growing Netball region in the USA. This event will provide the community, especially the youth, with opportunities to get involved in a true team sport making its way into US educational and after-school programs", says Jazmine Scanlan, Netball America West Region VP, and the Los Angeles Waves Netball Club President. Legendary Netball Player (104 Test Caps) and Coach Vicki Wilson will be conducting clinics for coaches and players on Friday, November 4th from 6pm. The clinics will educate aspiring players in the game of Netball and will feature USA Team members. Clare McCabe of the International Umpires Association (IUA) will be conducting an umpire's clinic on Friday, November 5th from 5pm to ensure our American umpires stay updated with International Rules and Protocols. Netball, with its roots in women's basketball, has been played throughout the world for over 110 years. Now an International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognized sport, Netball is played in over 70 countries and enjoyed by more than 20 million participants worldwide. Netball is a fast, non-contact game based on the principles of basketball except there is no backboard, no dribbling or running with the ball and players have just three seconds to pass the ball.
