U.S. Open Comes To Los Angeles

After a highly successful FISU World University Championship in Miami Florida this past July, Netball America Inc. is proud to announce Los Angeles as the host city for the 9th annual U.S. Open Netball Championships.

LOS ANGELES - Sept. 26, 2016 - PRLog -- This prestigious event will feature 30 netball teams (ladies and co-ed) from across the USA, UK, Canada, and Australia, who will be competing for the US Open Championship Title. The USA teams will be competing for the coveted Netball America Cup, which the LA Waves Netball Club won in 2013, and are looking to bring the big cup back to Los Angeles. The current National Cup winners are NY Storm (Caribbean American Netball Association), based in Brooklyn, NY.

"A partnership for this event is a tangible way for your company to connect with the international community in an event that has a reach of 20 million people worldwide. Where else in Los Angeles you get a captive audience with athletes from across the USA, Australia, UK, and Canada all in one place for 3 days!", says Sonya Ottaway, President of Netball America.

Legendary Netball Player (104 Test Caps) and Coach Vicki Wilson will be conducting clinics for coaches and players on Friday, November 4th from 6pm. The clinics will educate aspiring players in the game of Netball and will feature USA Team members. Clare McCabe of the International Umpires Association (IUA) will be conducting an umpire's clinic on Friday, November 5th from 5pm to ensure our American umpires stay updated with International Rules and Protocols.

Now an International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognized sport, Netball is played in over 70 countries and enjoyed by more than 20 million participants worldwide. Netball is a fast, non-contact game based on the principles of basketball except there is no backboard, no dribbling or running with the ball and players have just three seconds to pass the ball.
