Grammy Nominated Artist, PC Muñoz, Explores Multi-Racial Identity in His Performance Piece

San Francisco Artist Uses Music, Poetry, & Suspect Mitochondria to Address Cultural Identity

LOS ANGELES - Sept. 24, 2016 - PRLog -- The Last Bookstore is proud to present the Los Angeles premiere of HALF-BREED on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 7PM in Downtown Los Angeles at The Last Bookstore on 453 S. Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013. Tickets are free.  HALF-BREED is the latest music/poetry performance piece from acclaimed San Francisco recording artist PC Muñoz.  HALF-BREED examines issues of multiracial identity and cultural authenticity via electronic soundscapes, spoken-word, and live instrumentation. Violinist/composer Yvette Cornelia Holzwarth joins Muñoz for this performance; poet F. Douglas Brown and author Shannon Luders-Manuel are the featured openers.

HALF-BREED was originally conceived while PC was a fellow at The Loft Literary Center in Minnesota and has since premiered in Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco, and San José. In regards to the provocative/controversial title, Muñoz says "An evening exploring multiracial identity could be called a number of beautiful, soulful things. I titled this piece HALF-BREED as a way to deflate and subvert a term which has decidedly pejorative overtones, and to directly confront the caricatures and stereotypes that have long been associated with mixed-race people of all backgrounds."

All attendees will receive a free download card for PC's new synth-pop single "What If I Told You a Secret?", while supplies last.
