Taos Home Tour Showcasing The Next Generation of Efficiency, Comfort and Zero Carbon Living

New building science and its gold standard in efficiency reduces heating energy consumption by up to 90% and is revolutionizing the US construction industry.

TAOS, N.M. - Sept. 22, 2016 - PRLog -- Joaquin Karcher of Zero E Design is curating a home tour showing and educating about ultra- efficient new homes in Taos which aim to eliminate the use of fossil fuels. The tour will showcase 3 homes in 3 hours. Participants will meet at the TOOLBOX on 107 Civic Plaza Drive on Sat. Oct.1st at 9:00 am. After a short presentation the group will start the excursion.
Buildings are responsible for almost half (48%) of all energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. In order to curb climate change we need to effectively phase out the use of fossil fuels to heat and operate our homes. Building Codes are becoming increasingly stringent, owners and tenants are looking for ways to reduce their own home energy consumption and contractors are interested in learning how to achieve never before seen efficiencies.
The tour showcases 3 different homes which exemplify the evolution of ultra- efficient homes in recent years. Participants will learn about new concepts, new materials and see innovative and trend setting technologies which increase comfort, supply constant fresh, filtered air and save money every month.
"What these homes are primarily known for in Germany and the US is the incredible comfort they provide. Always even temperatures at 70 degrees, no cold spots, no draft, t-shirt conditions in the winter time, always fresh, filtered air .... and, no joke, they use so little energy that you can heat them with a hair dryer (2000 watts) in the coldest night of the winter. That is just phenomenal."    (Joaquin Karcher)
