Enterprise Estonia stated that it sees a lot of potential in the Southeast Asia region specifically in sectors such as cosmetics, technology, and food and beverage. "EAS' priority is to seek new business opportunities for Estonian companies and find new markets," said Hanno Tomberg, the chairman of the management board at Estonia Enterprise. "The Singaporean business culture is English speaking, which simplifies entry into this market. In addition, investment funds there are seeking investment opportunities in Europe and our start-ups have caught their eye," added Tomberg. The new office was inaugurated by Liisa Oviir, the Estonian Entrepreneurship minister, and the Koh Poh Koon, the Singaporean minister for trade and industry. The EAS office will be headed by Indrek Pallo, the former head of the Estonian Investment Agency. EAS hopes that Singapore, as a multicultural global city state, will provide a good launching pad to the rest of the region. Estonia will in return offer the possibilities of its e-residency programme to Southeast Asia entrepreneurs and investors for easy access to the EU.
