Gayatri-Mantra opened International Day of Peace celebrations in Nevada

Sept. 22, 2016 - PRLog -- Hindu statesman Rajan Zed opened International Day of Peace celebrations in Nevada with Gayatri-Mantra on September 21.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, also read from Upanishads and Bhagavad-Gita, ancient Hindu scriptures,on the occasion; stressing unity, selfless service of mankind, working together, etc.

This Peace event was sponsored by "Life, Peace, and Justice Commission" of Roman Catholic Diocese of Reno, Sierra Interfaith Action for Peace, and Alternatives to Violence Project Nevada. People from diverse faith groups and peace groups participated.

The International Day of Peace (Peace Day), observed worldwide on September 21, "provides an opportunity for all humanity to come together, in spirit and in action, to forward the ideals of and conditions for peace". It provides "a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace". This global day is "observed by hundreds of millions of citizens in cities, towns and villages worldwide".
