DANBURY, Conn. - Sept. 17, 2016 - PRLog -- Civil Air Patrol's 399th Composite Squadron will collect American Flags no longer fit for service so they can be formally retired in an approved ceremony, conducted by United States Veterans, on Flag Day.

Squadron members will be available to collect your worn and tattered flags on Saturday, October 1, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Stop & Shop, located on 44 Lake Ave. Ext., Danbury, Connecticut, across the street from Western Connecticut State University's Westside Campus. The service is free of charge.

Members will also be available to explain the benefits of belonging to one of America's finest youth programs. According to Major Joseph Bisnov, 399th Composite Squadron Commander, the entire community is welcome to attend and learn about Civil Air Patrol in Danbury. Small U.S. Flags will be available for individuals who stop by our post.

Civil Air Patrol, the longtime all-volunteer U.S. Air Force auxiliary, is the newest member of the Air Force's Total Force, which consists of regular Air Force, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, along with Air Force retired military and civilian employees. Civil Air Patrol also participates in Wreaths Across America, an initiative to remember, honor and teach about the sacrifices of U.S. military veterans.
