Follow on Google News | 'Elephant in the Valley' Comes to C2SV October 6Michele Madansky, Hillary Mickell present their shocking findings about women in the technology industry
By: C2SV Michele Madansky and Hillary Mickell take the stage at San Jose's historic California Theatre at 3:00 pm. Madansky has a Ph.D. in business and worked as the vice president of Global Market Research at Yahoo. Mickell founded recipe-sharing start-up Foodily and pioneered job sharing for mothers with children while at Yahoo. "While many women shared similar workplace stories, most men were simply shocked and unaware of the issues facing women in the workplace," the authors wrote in the survey's introduction. "In an effort to correct the massive information disparity, we decided to get the data and the stories." Thursday evening's attractions will also feature the SoFA Design Crawl, in which the district's marketing and product design firms welcome visitors into their studios, and a night of music headlined by electronic music legend DJ Donald Glaude. C2SV's Friday sessions will feature a rich lineup of speakers and topics, with highlights including best-selling author Antonio García Martínez talking about "Chaos Monkeys," and a discussion about business reinvention with George Zimmer, former CEO of Men's Wearhouse and current CEO of Generation Tux. Austin's legendary SXSW (South by Southwest) will hold its first official Silicon Valley meetup at the closing of the C2SV technology conference in San Jose on October 7. The meetup, which takes place from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at San Jose's Aura nightclub, will bring together past SXSW attendees and presenters from throughout the Bay Area to network and socialize as well as introduce the festival to people interested in attending. Attendees can register for a badge at the C2SV website, click on tickets, that enables them to attend the "Elephant in the Valley" discussion as well as all the other conference sessions taking place on the afternoon of Thursday, Oct. 6 and all day Friday, Oct 7. During sessions, badges will be available to those who pre-registered at the theatre's lobby. Off hours, tickets are available at the Metro office at 380 South First Street. The block of South First Street where the California Theatre sits will be closed to vehicular traffic on Friday, Oct 7, 2016. We recommend parking in the San Jose Convention Center parking garage. If you are driven to the theater, please instruct your driver or autonomous vehicle to drop you off on Market Street between San Salvador and San Carlos Streets. Now in its fourth year, C2SV is Silicon Valley's pre-eminent technology and music festival. Creative Convergence Silicon Valley (C2SV), will bring together business disrupters and technology luminaries for two days of forward-looking discussions and three nights of music and parties with established and emerging musical artists. Previous conferences have featured industry legends such as personal computer inventor Steve Wozniak, video game pioneer Nolan Bushnell and antivirus buccaneer John McAfee. C2SV's social mission is to keep Silicon Valley innovative, livable and inclusive. To this end the producers have adopted locally-based non-profit organizations whose community improvement efforts deserve recognition and economic support. Visit www.c2sv.com/ End
