GAPA Foundation Announces 2016 Scholarships and Grants

Celebrating Diverse Recipients from Across the United States
SAN FRANCISCO - Sept. 16, 2016 - PRLog -- Bringing awareness to a range of issues, from documenting fathers' experiences in raising Asian and Pacific Islander LGBTQ youth to a student creating a viral sensation explaining identity through a Gender Unicorn, the recipients of this year's Scholarships and Community Grants are pioneers and trailblazers dedicated to changing the world, for good. The Gay Asian Pacific Alliance (GAPA) Foundation is proud to announce a record-breaking amount of scholarships and community grants this year to these outstanding individuals and community programs and organizations that inspire and serve as role models for our community.

Community Connections: The Bow Tie Party will take place on October 16 at the Bayanihan Community Center, home of the Filipino Mental Health Initiative – San Francisco (FMHI-SF), serving the Filipino population through capacity building, outreach and engagement. Hosted by the reigning Miss GAPA 2016, Juicy Liu, the Bow Tie Party will include awarding the recipients, amazing raffle prizes, and live entertainment! Volunteers are needed to assist in a variety of ways: set up and breakdown, distribution of food and beverages, and more. Lunch will be provided to volunteers, who will also receive a commemorative ribbon. Interested volunteers can contact Drew Ho at drew.ho@gapafoundation.org for more information.

"GAPA Foundation is dedicated to exploring critical issues that affect the A&PI LGBTQ community and supporting innovative programs and individuals seeking solutions to those issues. We believe that there is still much work to be done, but it will take a village," said GAPA Foundation President Ty Lim. "Together, with the generous support of our donors and sponsors, we remain committed to investing in and supporting our scholar leaders and community organizations as they continue to work tirelessly to move our community forward. While the work is challenging, we couldn't be more proud to support our scholarship and grant recipients as they change our society for the better."
