Apex-Brasil Announces Finalists & Winner of 3rd Demo Day Pitch Contest

SAN FRANCISCO - Sept. 13, 2016 - PRLog -- Brazilian startups delivered their pitches last night, on the stage at the site of TechCrunch Disrupt, to a panel of judges who participated in the 3^rd Annual Apex-Brasil Demo Day. In the end, five finalists and one winner emerged.

Grand Prize Winner:  One Skin Technologies

Finalists:  AMVIEVO, BemVendi, Bov Control, Portal Telemedecina, SciCrop

One Skin Technologies has developed a platform for cultivating real human skin tissue that can replicate ethnicity and age to allow the development of more effective and personalized skin care products. The technology is animal-free and it is currently focused on testing anti-aging and skin repair products. The company is backed by US investor SOS Ventures.

This means that we are on the right path and we feel even more excited to keep pushing. The audience at this demo day was superb, and I was impressed with the feedback from the judges and the audience in general," said Carolina Reis de Oliveira, PhD., co-founder of One Skin Technologies. "This event, and Apex-Brasil specifically, has brought us important connections and visibility that will help me to scale our company globally."

The winner and finalists were selected by a panel of three judges: George Kellerman of Yamaha Motors Ventures; Luigi Congedo of Bootstrap Labs; and Pedro Sorrentino of FundersClub. As part of the prizes, the finalist companies will spend two days with Google Launchpad program.

"Bringing our best startups here is how we can show the world the breadth and depth of talent that our Brazilian economy can produce," said Fernando Spohr, Operations Manager at Apex-Brasil North America.

The delegation of Brazilian startups will continue their 'Brasil Week' tour of Silicon Valley with events at Redpoint eVentures and ABVCAP private equity, and will conclude on Friday with the BayBrazil Conference held at Googleplex.
