William Michael Cunningham to speak on "Saving Black Banks" at Congressional Black CaucusU.S. Congressman Bobby L. Rush will host a forum on saving African American Banks in Washington D.C. September 16th. Mr. Cunningham will present research findings.
As Congressman Rush notes, "With fewer than 30 black banks remaining in the US, the crisis for African American banks is obvious and growing. Difficult economic conditions in the African American community, an inability to expand into more creative and innovative products, and a tough regulatory environment have limited the amount of economic growth for these banks. A concerted effort must be undertaken to help African American Banks." William Michael Cunningham is an invited panelist for this timely and thought-provoking session. Mr. Cunningham is a Washington, DC-based economist, author and banking expert. The forum will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m., at the Washington Convention Center, Room 144-B, during the 46th Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Legislative Conference.
