Announces Winners of the 2016 Oil & Gas Cleantech ChallengeDeveloped in partnership with Noble Energy, Encana and ConocoPhillips, the Oil & Gas Cleantech Challenge (OGCC) assists the extractive energy industry in identifying new technologies to make energy development safer, cleaner and more environmentally responsible. After an internationalcall for applications, the partners selected 12 companies, nine from the U.S. and three from Canada to present to investors and decision-makers from the oil and natural gas industry. The top three presenters of CCIA's 2016 Oil & Gas Cleantech Challenge (OGCC) were: GHGSat - Winner of the $5,000 grand prize, GHGSat is operating the world's first satellite capable of detecting and measuring methane emissions from any industrial facility in the world, providing a simple, lower-cost, higher-precision service alternative to the complex range of ground-based solutions available today. CoResource Solutions - CoResource Solutions cleans oilfield and industrial produced water so that it can be surface released or reused. Unico - Unico provides an intrinsically safe wireless sensor system designed to prevent and reduce accidental VOC hydrocarbon and methane emissions at oil and gas sites by monitoring critical release points. "We were all extremely impressed with the caliber of teams in this year's Oil & Gas Cleantech Challenge (OGCC)," said Chris Shapard, CCIA's executive director. "Each year we are increasingly impressed by the dedication and innovative technologies the companies bring to the competition and this year was no exception. Choosing a winner from this outstanding field of candidates was not an easy task!" Companies applying for the OGCC were asked to provide novel technologies capable of working on issues related to unmanned aerial vehicles, digital oilfield, items to reduce truck traffic, space saving items to reduce footprint, plant or biological solutions, air, water, remote/distributed power, power management, advanced materials and chemicals.
