Follow on Google News | 2016 Ohio State University Black Alumni Society Alumni Award WinnersThe Ohio State University Black Alumni Society's 2016 Alumni Award honorees will include Eddie George, Dr. Valerie Lee, Dr. John Igwebuike, and Barbara Harris.
By: The Ohio State University Black Alumni Society Eddie George (B.S. Landscape Architecture 2001) will receive the Jesse Owens Influential Athlete Award. He is being recognized for his exceptional accomplishments in business and the arts as a former Ohio State student-athlete. Dr. Valerie B. Lee (Ph.D. English, 1976) will receive the Frank W. Hale, Jr. Honorary Leadership Award for her demonstrated devotion to continue the Legacy of Dr. Frank W. Hale, Jr. and her outstanding contributions to The Ohio State University as former Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion. Barbara Harris (B.S. Education, 1949) will be honored with the Larry Williamson Distinguished Service Award for her outstanding contributions to her community as an educator and for over 60 years of support and involvement with The Ohio State University. Dr. John Igwebuike (B.S. Business 1991, B.S. Education 1991, Masters in Labor and Henman Resources, 1996, and Ph.D. Human Resource Development and Education, 1998) is being awarded the Samella Lewis Professional Achievement Award for his signification contributions and achievements in academia. In addition to our Alumni Award winners, we will also recognize our inaugural class of Buckeyes Under 40. This award recognizes our outstanding young Black Alumni who are making an impact in their respective fields and communities.
