WESTBURY, N.Y. - Sept. 7, 2016 - PRLog -- The first-ever Fit Doc Walk against childhood obesity, the most serious chronic disease in children today, is taking place this September, sponsored by NX Generation Athletics.

The "Walk 2 Health with Fit Doc Michele Reed & Her Surprise Guest" is from    9 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 24th, 2016 at Eisenhower Park's The Holly Picnic Area.

"The focus is on education, nutrition and exercise programs that are available to families in the community," says Dr. Michele Reed, the walk's leader and Board Certified Family Medicine Physician and a managing partner of MS Family Medicine Health Care, P.C. with medical offices in Queens and Long Island, NY.

"This is a severe, growing problem among children today, and we need to be taking steps to prevent it," Dr. Reed said.  "We hope this walk will build awareness of this disease and its dangerous consequences."

The event is all about education, fun and family. There will be different workout stations, and a kid's obstacle course.  The walk itself is around Eisenhower Park. There will also be giveaways, and prizes at this totally free event.

Donations are welcomed and all proceeds will go to support the event. Dr. Reed said she hoped to make the "Walk 2 Health with Fit Doc Michele Reed & Her Surprise Guest" an annual event as a way to continue promoting the education and advocacy of good health.
