WASHINGTON - Sept. 6, 2016 - PRLog -- It's a disturbing statistic. Seven in ten girls believe they are not good enough or do not measure up in some way, including their looks, performance in school and relationships with family and friends.

Unfortunately, as girls transition into women, the numbers don't get any better. Those unresolved issues often carry over into adulthood. For example, approximately 91% of women today are unhappy with their bodies and resort to dieting to achieve their ideal body shape. Sadly, only 5% of women naturally possess the body type often portrayed by Americans in the media.

"People, experiences, and environments can shape your self-perception if you let it," stressed T.C Mason. "I was inspired to write this book to let people know that they aren't alone in navigating the journey of self-acceptance."

Like so many women in today's society, T.C felt she didn't quite fit in. Growing up, she was bullied about her appearance. In fact, being called silly names like Loaf-A-Butt at a young age negatively shaped her idea on body image and weight loss.

"I used to think something was wrong with me," stated T.C. "I felt like an outcast."

Overtime, however, she learned to accept herself—quirks and all—and not cave into society's impossible definition of perfection. Today, she proudly refers to herself as a 'beautiful weirdo.'

"As I grew older and wiser, I thought that instead of hiding and trying to blend in, it was time to embrace myself and stand out," stated T.C. "For me, 'beautiful weirdo' is simply a person who enjoys and accepts the awkwardness and beauty of his or her peculiarities."

In her new book, "The Making of a Beautiful Weirdo," readers will learn the power of perspective and how to view every experience in life as a teaching lesson. The reader's heart will be filled with hope, joy and laughter as they accompany T.C on her journey to self-confidence and acceptance.

"It is my hope that my positive and affirming messages of hope and wisdom will be infectious, empowering, and encouraging as they embark upon their own journeys," stressed T.C. "They will be encouraged and empowered to embrace their uniqueness and accept the person God created them to be."

The book serves as a self-esteem and self-acceptance tool that uses amusing anecdotes, personal stories, meaningful examples, and unparralled advice to empower the reader to push through life, embrace their journey, claim, and be their happiness.

"Another reason I was inspired to write the book was because it was a way to honor and embrace the experiences that have helped to transform me into the woman I am today," stated T.C.

Since its recent release, the inspirational book has been met with rave reviews. According to Amazon reviewer, Naomi Davis, the book makes a great addition for small-group discussions. She recently gave the book four out of five stars.

"'The Making of a Beautiful Weirdo'" is a great reminder or lesson to be true to yourself and love the person God created you to be. Never stop learning. Never stop growing," she posted about the book (https://www.amazon.com/Making-Beautiful-Weirdo-Nuggets-Aw...).

Filled with 17 page-turning chapters, T.C's freshman novel explores such topics as: self-esteem, bullying, self-image, weight loss, grief and loss, love, forgiveness, children of alcoholics, single parent homes, blended families, boundaries, friendships, parenting and much more.

"I am very excited to release it, as I believe it is an inspirational tool that will help people to embrace their own story, both the ups and downs," stated T.C.

According to this licensed clinical therapist, she hopes her book inspires others to unleash their inner 'beautiful weirdo.'
