Long & McQuade to Offer Jazz Improvisation Classes with Steve Holt

PETERBOROUGH, Ontario - Sept. 2, 2016 - PRLog -- Award-winning jazz pianist Steve Holt will offer instruction in jazz improvisation at Long & McQuade locations in Peterborough, Belleville, and Kingston. Classes will begin the week of October 3rd and include Jazz Ensemble Performance for All Instruments, as well as private jazz piano instruction.

The Jazz Ensemble course will run for 8 weeks, 1 hour per week, for musicians who play any of the following: piano, guitar, bass, drums, brass, or reed instruments. Each ensemble will include 3-7 musicians.  The course is open to anyone 15 years and over, including adults, with a basic proficiency on their instrument.

Steve Holt is one of Canada's most important jazz pianists. He began his professional career at the age of seventeen playing the clubs in and around Montreal. Since that time, Steve has built an international reputation having worked with, among others, Archie Shepp, Larry Coryell, James Moody, Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson, Pat Labarbera, and Michel Urbaniak.  He is a multi-award winning musician, and a JUNO nominee for his debut album.
