BOSTON - Sept. 1, 2016 - PRLog -- The 2016 National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) Convention & Trade Show will host approximately 80 new exhibitors out of 300 exhibitors, Oct. 7-10 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

Many of the free trade show's first-time exhibitors support the fast-growing trend toward Integrated Systems Contractors (ISCs) – the 70 percent of the nation's electrical contractors now involved in low-voltage work including LED lighting, lighting controls, communications, security, fire/life safety, energy management and other automated building systems.

"This year's new exhibitors demonstrate our industry's transformation, as most electrical contractors now work on low-voltage projects and design/build or design/assist bases," said NECA President David A. Hardt, president, Hardt Electric Inc., Chicago, Illinois.

According to ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR magazine's 2016 Profile of the Electrical Contractor, the industry's most in-depth, independent research:

· About 73% of electrical contractors work on a Design/Build or Design/Assist basis, and now account for an average of 43% of revenue, up from 39% in 2014.

· While 94% of electrical contractors continue to work in traditional Power/Lighting, 95% work on low voltage projects.

· High percentages are doing HVAC work (42%), including HVAC Controls (38%) as well as HVAC Mechanical (23%).

· 14% of electrical contractors have worked on Water Utilities or Waste Water Treatment Plants.

· 19% said that their 2015 work involved Pre-Assembly/Pre-Fabrication of Electrical Components.

· 16% said that they performed Programming and Commissioning in the previous year.

· 42% of electrical contracting firms report a professional relationship with engineers – either on a consulting basis (38%) or on staff/in a separate division (15%) or both consulting and on staff/separate division (11%).

NECA 2016 is open to all electrical professionals, including non-members. For details and headliner speakers, programs and special events, see the full convention schedule. Free admission to trade show: Go to Attendee Registration and use code 16VID.
