New Young Adult Novel 'Rise' is a Contemporary Tale of Witchcraft and Vampires That's Generating a Lot of Buzz on Social Media

Teenage witch Alexia Wick is the 15-year-old female protagonist and narrator of the first book in Almonte's Trifecta series. She's a high school sophomore with a seemingly typical life but she harbors a big secret — she and her family are all witches. After school and on weekends Alexia completes her homework, then practices magic and spell casting under the tutelage of her mentor Darren. Alexia and her two teenage siblings are preparing for their coven's annual competitions — the Trials — where they must prove their abilities and compete with the most talented young witches from across the country.

When the school year begins, Alexia finds herself confused by the estrangement from her best friend Arianne (a witch from another coven), and is thoroughly enchanted by a new male student named Kaleb who, like Alexia, has secrets to protect. These secrets threaten the bond that has developed between them, and the darkness that surrounds Kaleb's clan of vampires unleashes a chain of events that disrupts peace between the covens, placing Alexia and her family at the heart of an immense power struggle whose outcome can have dire consequences for all.
