Can Pokemon Go help sell commercial real estate?

BOISE, Idaho - Aug. 31, 2016 - PRLog -- Whether you've hopped on the Pokemon Go bandwagon or not, there's no denying its meteoric rise in popularity. With over 100 million downloads of the app to date, many of your friends and co-workers could be secret (or not so secret) Pokemon Go fans right now.

The real estate market has noticed this as well. Many multifamily and residential agents have begun tying the game into current listings by featuring how many "Pokestops" or "Pokemon Gyms" are located nearby.

While having these locals near your commercial asset isn't likely to translate into more lease or sale interest, it's what Pokemon Go represents that could have an impact in the commercial real estate world. Augmented Reality, or AR for short, can help retailers increase foot traffic to their stores, allow developers to evaluate whether or not a project is feasible using GPS, or even draw a plan outline to help investors or banks to visualize how a space will look upon completion.

With over $1.1 billion poured by venture capitalists into AR firms so far this year, we can rest assured that Pokemon Go will not be the only app using this technology in the coming weeks, months and years.
