translate plus invited to US trade mission as part of the Mayor's International Business Programme

Sept. 7, 2016 - PRLog -- translate plus are excited to announce that our directors Robert Timms and Per Severinsen will be embarking on a week-long trade mission to Chicago and New York this September, on the invitation of the Mayor of London's International Business Programme.

The Mayor's International Business Programme, with the theme of "Go to Grow", was created to support fast-growing companies with a focus on global growth, providing access to targeted trade missions, live leads and networking, as well as expert advice and workshops led by leading entrepreneurs and business leaders. We were delighted to have been named one of London & Partners' 10 International Growth Heroes earlier this year and to have been included in what was the first cohort of the Mayor's programme. Now, with this targeted trade mission, we look forward to progressing even further and gaining more ground globally, namely within the USA.

The trip will provide access for high-growth B2B tech companies to explore further business opportunities in the States. As a technologically focused language services provider (LSP), we have set ourselves apart from other LSPs as we continue to invest resources in our world-leading software, such as i plus®, making the transition from local to global a much smoother process for all of our clients.

Why tour the USA? Given that it was responsible for £4.4 billion worth of exports in April 2016, it's the UK's most valued trading partner. The trade mission runs from 14 to 16 September in Chicago before moving on to New York from 17 to 21 September. While in Chicago, Per and Robert will be meeting a range of businesses, trade organisations and dignitaries, including JP Morgan, the British-American Business Council and the Mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel. The New York leg will include roundtables with potential clients, a visit to Blippar (the London-born business whose augmented reality app has been a fantastic role model for overseas growth), a trade showcase event and attendance at the New York Stock Exchange closing bell ceremony.

translate plus will be travelling with around 30 game-changing London-headquartered businesses, such as Jambo, Lost My Name and Shopitize. Robert and Per are delighted that the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, will be joining the trade mission in person to show his support for high-growth London businesses looking to export. Sadiq Khan said: "London is one of the most vibrant and diverse places in the world to start and grow a technology business. These high-growth companies have the potential to become the next global tech giants and I am delighted that they will join me in showing the world that London is open to talent, business and collaborations."

The Mayor's pioneering programme and the continued international success of London businesses demonstrate that London remains open for business. translate plus look forward to building more mutually beneficial relationships across the Atlantic: we already have a large number of established clients Stateside, so we're looking forward to the opportunity to widen our coverage of the US market even further.
