Commonwealth Games Talk of the Town at the QLD Infrastructure Projects Conference

Aug. 30, 2016 - PRLog -- The 2nd Annual Queensland Infrastructure Project Conference, which attracted over 150 delegates last year, is set to bring nationwide industry professionals together from the 25th to the 26th of October featuring a wide array of experts and speakers in attendance showcasing the latest infrastructure projects in development across the state.

The 2nd annual conference to be held in Brisbane, the program offers a compelling schedule that will feature the latest updates on major infrastructure projects and provide ample opportunities for knowledge sharing and networking opportunities.

With infrastructure booming in the lead up to the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth GamesTM, Chairman of GOLDOC Peter Beattie will showcase developments on the $122 million Carrara Sports Precinct project which will form the backbone of this world class event.

Preparation for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth GamesTM is a major feature on Queensland's infrastructure horizon with a total of $320 million invested in venues infrastructure ahead of the Games, including $154 million in Commonwealth Government funding. To accommodate the more than 6600 athletes and officials set to hit the Gold Coast in approximately 19 months' time, a number of significant urban renewal projects are underway.

The Carrara Sports Precinct project, to be discussed at the conference, will see new and upgraded facilities implemented to meet the needs of both a range of elite and community sporting groups. As the key venue precinct for GC2018, the precinct will host the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth GamesTM and is scheduled for completion in early 2017.

With a high calibre line-up, the QLD Infrastructure Projects Conference is set to provide a one of a kind opportunity to hear from major figures on the infrastructure scene Australia-wide.

Deputy Director General Mr Vass', from the Department of Transport and Main Roads, will provide a keynote address covering an overview of the major transport infrastructure planned for the State at Brisbane's QLD Infrastructure Projects Conference. His extensive experience in spearheading the largest reconstruction program of its kind in Queensland's history will be a major highlight of the event.

Renewable energy projects also featured prominently on the program as Australia debates renewable energy ventures, jobs and investments in the sector. The BarcaldineRegionalCommunitySolarFarm and Coopers Gap Wind Farm form a decisive move towards renewable infrastructure solutions potentially signifying substantial changes for the average Australian home.

Zeroing in on the Northern Queensland region, the proposed Townsville Stadium and Entertainment Precinct will also be reviewed at the conference. Sitting within the inner city's Waterfront redevelopment, the centre will house a spectacular array of facilities, ranging from an elite sporting stadium to entertainment, conference and event venues, simultaneously incorporating a National Centre for Indigenous Sporting Excellence.

Back in Brisbane, the Cross River Rail Project will prove a city changing addition to Southeast Queensland's public transport network. In addition to the 10.2 kilometre link from Dutton Park to Bowen Hills, a 5.9 kilometre tunnel will cross under the Brisbane River and CBD, connecting southern and northern commuters.

Delegates will hear from Gavin Nicholls, the Project Director for Cross River Rail, who will summarise this city-changing addition to Southeast Queensland's public transport network.

As a must-attend event for industry professionals seeking up-to-date information on Queensland's major infrastructure projects, the QLD Infrastructure Projects Conference will provide delegates with ample opportunities to capitalise on emerging business opportunities in the region.
