Is a Shit Storm About Ready to Hit North Carolina?

When you find out North Carolina produces over 10 Billion gallons of animal waste a year on their 6,500 factory farms, and put that together with one tropical storm and you can't help wonder, "Is shit going to hit the fan and contaminate food?"

REDLANDS, Calif. - Aug. 30, 2016 - PRLog -- North Carolina is about to be hit with a tropical storm.  This storm could end up being the biggest "Shit Storm" the country has ever seen!  Once you get the facts, you will see where we are coming from with that statement as we are talking literally.

For starters North Carolina is home to over 6,500 factory farms.  How do you know they are factory farms?  Just look at the aerial view.  All you see is a big warehouse with no animals in sight, but you know they are there as every building has a huge pond of concentrated animal excrement next to it.

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) has put all of the information together on the farms, their stats, and a satellite picture of the farm from space.

The EWG project, "Exposing Fields of Filth, Landmark Report Maps Feces-Laden Hog and Chicken Operation in North Carolina" exposes the massiveness of what is happening there and how they are doing business.  For those of us that believe animals should be treated humanly, can't see where even one of these farms are doing that at all.  Some are massive operations that could be growing for US company Smithfield's that was bought by a Chinese company so we are raising conventional pork in the US complete with all of the pollution it creates to turn around send that bacon to China for them to eat.

The EWG has created an interactive map where you can click on all the farms in the state and get a satellite view along with stats of what they are raising, and how much excrement are they creating per year.

Some counties produce more waste product and animals than others with two counties generating 4 Billion gallons of wet excrement a year.  It's estimated that the ratio of animals to humans is 20:1 with animals far out numbering people.

All together North Carolina produces over 10 BILLION gallons of wet excrement and  4,000,000,000 (BILLION) pounds of dry excrement each year.

Hundreds have been sickened from food borne illness and hundreds have died.

Extreme weather can send millions of gallons of excrement right into waterways, drinking water reservoirs, or the ocean.  Many are located short distances from drinking wells, schools, and churches.
