Follow on Google News | GZA to Conduct Coastal Resilience Study for the Town of Old Saybrook CTBy: GZA Dr. Alex Felson and Associates and Stantec will support GZA in conducting the work for this important coastal resilience project. The purpose of this project is to strengthen the environmental, social and economic resilience of the town to coastal flooding and the effects of sea level rise, and to the likely increases in the frequency and intensity of coastal storms, coastal flooding, storm surges, and coastal erosion. This study will provide a detailed assessment of the risks from sea level rise with respect to community assets including coastal infrastructure, essential facilities and structures, neighborhoods, natural and recreations resources, and other critical town owned assets. Based on this assessment, the GZA Team will assist the town in the development of community resiliency strategies and adaptation actions designed to mitigate and/or reduce these risks to areas of the community that are vulnerable. The project is being funded by a Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Grant award of $125,000 the Connecticut Department of Housing awarded the Town of Old Saybrook, Connecticut earlier this year.
