Giving Nose A Complete Grafting Revision Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is one of the most difficult aesthetic surgery that requires a high rate of revision, as it requires a complete internal and external examination of nose for secondary nasal surgery and surgeons rely on grafts.

BRISTOL, U.K. - Aug. 26, 2016 - PRLog -- There is no doubt secondary operation is more difficult for nose grafting than the first.  However, what makes job of Rhinoplasty so difficult? There are certain obvious things done with cosmetic surgery, prior operation, measuring the availability of septum, skin thickness, etc.   It is a very difficult case and little idea is available what is to be done in secondary case until it is exposed.

Evaluation Prior To The  Operation

The revision Rhinoplasty considers determining the patient's concern and verifying validity of complaint with a thorough examination of the nose. There may be instances when the patients' expectations or complaints may not be reasonable or appropriate.

It is seen that if patients have thick nose skin, then this surgery can be a little difficult. There can be abnormalities such as such as bossae, concavities along dorsal walls, for which the dorsal profile must be addressed.  The status of septum is also considered. Most of revision Rhinoplasty requires grafting and assessment of inferior turbinates during internal examination. Patients should consider a treatment plan regarding this revision nose surgery.

Materials For Grafting

This form of revision cosmetic surgery ascertains one goal for the surgeon, i.e, to restore structural support of the nose and replacement of the tissue volumes. In order to achieve these surgeons often rely on grafts. There are numerous materials available for nose grafts and each has unique properties. An ideal graft should be resistant to trauma, infection free, mechanically stable and should be readily available. These available grafts are classified into non-synthetic grafts and alloplast implants.

In case of Rhinoplasty surgery, autogenous cartilage graft is the primary choice. These grafts cause minimal inflammatory reponse along with graft infection and low extrusion rate and resorption. The cartilage characteristics make these grafts useful for augmentation of soft tissues and restoration of nasal architecture.  Septal cartilage remains to be the popular choice of grafts, but this donor site is limited in most cases.

Surgical Technique

With the revision of nose surgery is slightly difficult because there may be scarring after the primary surgery. In most cases, secondary revision is an important consideration. There are no questions that open technology will provide extended view for nasal complexities, and it allows precise manoeuvers and placement of grafts and sutures.

Septoplasty revision

Every primary septal deformity that is not treated earlier, must be treated before this surgery.  These structures can often be distorted, manipulated, and prior resections may have weakened the critical L – shape strut.

Tip revision

The tip surgery can enormously vary in secondary cases. It is done with cephalic trim of lateral crura along with transdomal stitching and positioning of the shield grafts. This is especially true in case of Rhinoplasty (https://www.harleybodyclinic.co.uk/).
