By: IntegraCare Rain and wet conditions postponed the event in May. Three months later, the event to benefit the Alzheimer's Association is set for a "restart" as the car and bike show must go on. The new date of the Leonard Street Car and Bike Show is Saturday, August 27. The popular event and its $5 vehicle entry fee will benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield teams with Graystone Court, Leonard Court Apartments and IBEW to hold the show. Registration will be held from 9 a.m. until noon on August 27 on Leonard Street. Awards will be presented in the afternoon, and the show will conclude at 3 p.m. "The Leonard Street Car Show is such a great tradition that we weren't about to allow rain to wash out this year's event," said Joanie Taylor, Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield business office assistant and president of the car show committee. "We have a new date, and we're anticipating another great turnout as long as the weather cooperates. We typically attract between 75 and 100 cars and motorcycles. Our biggest class is the stock class, which spotlights cars produced between 1976 and 1989." Taylor said the car show will feature a craft and vendor show this year, which is a new addition. A 50-50 drawing and basket giveaways also will be a part of the event. Space for vendors still is available, she said. "We have baskets with themes for kids, the beach, car care, baking, country crafts, movies and more," Taylor said. Last year, Taylor said the car show raised $931 for the Alzheimer's Association. In 2014 the total was $925 despite rainy weather. Three years ago, the event brought in approximately $1,500 for the charity. In fact, since 2011, Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield has helped raise nearly $4,732 for the Alzheimer's Association through the Leonard Street Car and Bike Show. "We are determined to overcome the minor speed bump we encountered during a rainy Saturday in May," said Candy Shomo, Executive Director of Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield. "This show gets bigger and bigger each year. The residents enjoy checking out the vintage cars and bikes. Plus, we raise money for the Alzheimer's Association, which adds to the significance of the show." http://www.integracare.com End
