A New Executive Director for CCD

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Aug. 23, 2016 - PRLog -- Dora Jacildo Named as the New Executive Director at Comprehensive Child Development

Comprehensive Child Development, Inc. is pleased to announce Dora Jacildo as Executive Director. Dora has served the Long Beach community for 20 years with over 24 years of experience in the field of early care and education, beginning as a preschool teacher and later transitioning as the manager of the Resource and Referral Department for Connections for Children. During her time at Connections for Children, she helped hundreds of child care providers start their own businesses, and was instrumental in improving access to and the quality of child care programs in Los Angeles County. She helped develop the pilot for KCET's "A Place of Their Own" and "Los Niños En Su Casa," and actively participated in drafting the initial quality standards for Los Angeles Universal Preschool (where she was appointed to the Board of Directors by Supervisor Don Knabe in 2013 and currently serves as Board Secretary).

Dora has served on many local committees and commissions as member or chair, including vice president of the California Child Care Resource and Referral Network, and chair of the Los Angeles County Policy Roundtable for Child Care and Development. Jacildo has a master's degree in Human Development and Social Change from Pacific Oaks College. She was a part-time faculty at Los Angeles Harbor College and taught in the Child Development Department. She served as Executive Director for Children Today and SAHARA before joining the staff at Comprehensive Child Development, Inc.

Comprehensive Child Development, Inc. was founded in 1984 to provide high-quality Early Care and Education and care to some of the most disadvantaged families in Long Beach, San Pedro, and Wilmington. Today we operate five childcare facilities, support 20 family child care homes, and oversee close to 700 nutrition programs throughout Greater Los Angeles. We serve 8,000 children daily and are one of the largest nonprofits serving the Los Angeles Harbor Community. The families we serve are homeless, unemployed, low-income, or student families in desperate need of our resources. We provide high-quality child care and support parents growth to help create self-sustaining families and healthy homes.
