By: HollyShorts Film Festival The lineup includes 400 of the top short movies from almost every major continent. The festival received a record of nearly 3,000 submissions this year a festival record. HollyShorts, which was named "The Cannes of Short Film Festivals" by Indie Wire, and is consistently ranked as one of the top film festivals each year by MovieMaker. The organizers bill HollyShorts as "The Filmmakers Festival." The festival is taking place at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres August 11-20, 2016. The HollyShorts Film Conference, which features heavy hitter panel discussions, is taking place at IgnitedSpaces August 12-19th . "The boy who cried Fish!" tells the story of Adam (Jacob Hopkins), a 10 year old boy with autism, his single mother Miranda (Breeda Wool), and the challenges the two of them face. One day Adam insists on wearing his mother's blue bra, an act that initially seems random but carries a deep message for her and the world. When she sees the famous "Blue Bra girl" of Tahrir square on TV, Miranda begins to understand Adam's hidden turmoil, and sees to the heart of the violence in his life. Director Dalia Musaad was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt and is currently based in New York. Also a writer and editor, Musaad's work experiences range from gritty documentary films such as Oscar-nominated "The Square" to more intimate story driven films like her debut short film "The boy who cried Fish!". Says Musaad: "I made that film because it was the only way I could process my feelings after taking an active part in the Egyptian revolution back in 2011. I started writing the film after I came to Los Angeles to pursue my directing studies. I travelled right after a big shift had taken place in my country, and it was not easy to process such a life changing experience with all its ups and almost pit-like downs." Producer Anabelle Munro is an award-winning producer, actress, writer, director and CEO of the LA-based production company Blue Boots Entertainment LLC. Her collaboration with Dalia on "The boy who cried Fish!" is one of the most outstanding experiences in her career as a filmmaker.
