Author and Neurodiversity Advocate Hackie Reitman, M.D. Speaks in Louisville, Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Aug. 17, 2016 - PRLog -- DifferentBrains.com founder Dr. Harold "Hackie" Reitman will be speaking at this year's USAAA 2016 World Conference and Expo, which runs August 18-20. Dr. Reitman will be giving his presentation "Aspertools: Understanding And Embracing Asperger's, Autism And Neurodiversity," from 1:30pm-2:30pm on August 20th, and earlier that day will be participating in a panel titled "The Doctors and The Researchers" at 8:30am. Dr. Reitman will be speaking of his journey to becoming a neurodiversity advocate, and the importance of society learning to appreciate, accept, and take advantage of the differences in our brains.

Dr. Harold "Hackie" Reitman, founder of neurodiversity community site DifferentBrains.com and author of the Amazon best-seller Aspertools: The Practical Guide for Understanding and Embracing Asperger's, Autism Spectrum Disorders and Neurodiversity ( http://aspertools.com ), is a retired orthopaedic surgeon and former professional heavyweight boxer, who became immersed in neurodiversity when his own daughter was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome after graduating college. Surprised at his own cluelessness on the topic as both a parent and a doctor, he learned everything he could, and has since devoted his time to helping mainstream the acceptance of the differences in our brains. He is also the writer and producer of the feature film "The Square Root of 2" starring Darby Stanchfield of ABC "Scandal." ( http://thesquarerootof2movie.com ) He also recently released a neurodiversity documentary that uses clips from his film and interviews with experts to illustrate ideas and tools from Aspertools™. The documentary is available to watch for free here: http://differentbrains.com/aspergers-autism-square-root-2-neurodiversity-documentary/

About DifferentBrains.com (http://www.differentbrains.com/)

"Different Brains™ is a community where everyone is accepted and no one has to feel like the 'Lone Ranger' ever again." – Harold "Hackie" Reitman, M.D.

Different Brains is a neurodiversity community site that features blogs, videos, podcasts, documentaries, and resources- all aimed at offering our visitors stories and ideas that are enlightening, inspirational, or hopefully both, while making them feel like they aren't the "lone ranger." We are a "big tent" site that encourages a positive and respectful exchange of diverse ideas, about every condition we might consider "neurodiverse"- be it autism, Asperger's, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, dyslexia, or any other "label" for someone with a brain that may be a little bit "different." Society needs to understand and embrace neurodiversity- for the good of ALL of us.
