HONOLULU - Aug. 17, 2016 - PRLog -- "Libido Tsunami" is a fresh and funny medley that salutes the amusing wonders of life in a collection of forty humorous short stories categorized under four topics: A Flood of Family, Male Amazements, The Unknown Hawaii, and The Life Divine.

Cate Burns has lectured and taught internationally at universities in Prague, The Czech Republic, New York City, Los Angeles. She holds a BA degree in Asian Studies from the University of Washington; a second BA degree in Fine Arts from the University of Nevada Las Vegas; an MFA from the University of California Irvine; and a PhD from the Union Graduate School in Art History and Women's Studies. She is a recipient of an Elizabeth Morse Genius Foundation Award from the National Association of Women Artists in New York City; the Twentieth Century Award for Achievement and the International Woman of the Year Award, both from the International Biographical Centre, London. As an unpublished manuscript, "Libido Tsunami" received a Pacific Rim Book Festival award in 2016.

"Several years ago, I decided to explore the happy side of life while seeking deeper truths—or not," says Burns. "I wanted to see what humor could show me. At times I was inspired by the thought of a pagan Anne Lamotte or a David Sedaris on estrogen."

"Absolutely LOVE the descriptions of your creative underpants, and the names you give them (like those on a restaurant menu)! The connection to chakras, along with the metaphorical richness even in the word "underwear" is wonderful. Very, very, very clever and, dare I say it?—unique. This is refreshing, funny, inventive, and delightful." - Sharon Whitehill, PhD, author of The Biography of Mary O'Hara (by the author of My Friend Flicka) and Trails of Flicka's Friend.

"I'm so excited about this new important work. Burns has found a powerful and humorous authentic voice and I want to hear more." - Lynn Andrews, author of Medicine Woman
