Drew Sarka's "Colorado Through the Seasons" Art Show Celebrates the State's Colorful Scenery

DENVER - Aug. 17, 2016 - PRLog -- Celebrating Colorado's distinctive seasons, local artist Drew Sarka (http://www.drewsarkapaints.com), nicknamed "The Art Doctor," is trading in his stethoscope for paintbrushes to host a solo art exhibit at the Historic Dos Chappell Bathhouse in Washington Park in Denver. This year's exhibit theme is "Colorado Through the Seasons" inspired by his accidentally diverted family road trips and adventures across the state. Each piece is tied to a personal story from his life experiences as a family doctor, artist, father and husband. The exhibit features works including "Hollyhocks" and "Rocky Mountain River."

Surprisingly, Sarka's medical approach informs his painting process, using a "checklist" of artistic principles to dissect the structure of the paintings while expertly balancing light, shadow, texture and color.

"As an artist, the change in season creates wonderful variety in color harmony," said Drew Sarka, Colorado artist. "The spectrum of colors, textures and composition of Colorado's landscapes inspires me to capture the beauty of our state one painting at a time. For this show, I will have all the seasons and their color harmonies well represented."

Sarka received his first paint set and canvas from his father in college when purchasing medical textbooks at the campus bookstore. Sarka achieved his dream of becoming a doctor and his father's artistic gift impacted him too. He eventually came to work with mentors Kevin Weckbach, Kim English and Ron Hicks to hone his skill and to date, has exhibited at more than 30 galleries and shows across the U.S.

"Colorado Through the Seasons" takes place from 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and is open to the public. In addition, guests will be able to view "paintings in progress" displays, peruse local feature stories of his work and talk with the artist about his unique and intentional approach. The event will feature live music from guitarist Greg Young and catering from Chef on the Spot.
