ATLANTA - Aug. 16, 2016 - PRLog -- Over 1,100 lots of 19th and 20th century art, fine furnishings, Asian objects and works of art, gorgeous Persian rugs, garden accents, and fine collectibles will come up for bid the weekend of August 27th and 28th at Great Gatsby's Auction Gallery, in the firm's 60,000 square foot gallery at 5180 Peachtree Boulevard.

Headlining the two-day auction of fine estates will be property belonging to a former American senior executive for Honeywell Corporation, acquired while based in China over a ten year time period , and original artworks from the private collection of a distinguished gentleman in Portland, Oregon. Internet bidding will be available via the LiveAuctioneers.com and Invaluable.com platforms.

Fine art will be offered in abundance. Key lots will include a watercolor and crayon depiction of actor Sylvester Stallone by iconic American artist Leroy Neiman (1921-2012), inscribed, dated (1985) and numbered; and a charcoal on paper by Paul-Emile Pissarro (Fr., 1884-1972), circa 1959, and titled River Landscape, 28 inches by 32 inches (in the frame) and artist signed.

Artworks from the Portland gentleman's collection will feature two oversized neon-hued works by Cuban-born artist Pastor Castillo; a framed mixed-media work by Florida-based Alexander Gore; a work depicting modern dancers by Gatja Helgart Rothe, as well as a number of original pen-and-ink cartoons produced for Esquire Magazine in the 1940s, along with a wide variety of marine art.

For those nostalgic for Mid-Century illustration, original oil paintings by James Alfred Meese (Am., 1917-1971) will be on offer. One, of a lady in a red bandeau top and skirt, speaking to a police officer in a quasi-erotic encounter, served as original cover art for the Signet pulp fiction novel A Private Stair (1955). The piece measures 25 inches tall by 25 inches wide in the frame.

Additional works include an acrylic on woven paper titled Peach Celebration by Anatole Krasnyansky, depicting colorful masks and measuring 37 ½ inches by 46 ½ inches; a signed linocut by Pablo Picasso titled Two Women, in steely tones of blue and black, measuring 14 inches by 12 inches; and four signed limited edition lithographs by Salvador Dali, including works from The New Jerusalem suite, The Song of Songs of King Solomon portfolio and The Twelve Apostles suite.

A number of abstract works of art, from a private Miami collection, will include an untitled oil and charcoal on canvas by American artist Sandra Gierke; a painting titled Olor aLluvia by Arnold Coen (exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico) and an oversized work by Xavier de Torres, titled Amarillo Limon, impressive at 72 inches tall by 58 inches wide.

Asian items from the Honeywell executive will include exquisitely carved 19th century Chinese cabinets, 19th century carved Chinese folding chairs, colorful genre scene paintings by Chinese artists, an impressive Chinese rococo-inspired carved bed standing 56 inches tall, and a charming 19th century child's silk robe, possibly Japanese, hand embroidered with gold dragons. A large number of hand painted Chinese porcelain vases will also come up for bid, including a pair of Rose Canton floor vases measuring 53 ¾ inches tall.

Among the more unusual pieces on offer will be a 19th century American golden oak three-station barbershop back wall with three original beveled glass mirrors flanked by smaller "mustache viewing" mirrors and towel storage compartments (106 inches tall by 151 inches wide); a pair of carved mahogany skeleton-form armchairs each with removable cushions that resemble a tuxedo; and a contemporary Brutalist-style table custom made from stainless steel supports and a plank of exotic Tamarind wood measuring 36 inches by 117 inches long.

The selection of rugs will feature a rare, signed, hand-knotted silk-on-silk Persian Qum rug, 9 feet 9 inches by 6 feet 8 inches; an exotic felt-backed zebra skin rug measuring 121 inches by 67 inches; and three 19th century Serapi and Oushak rugs.

Fine collectibles will include a coin-operated, three-reel "Club Cal Neva" slot machine with stand, made by Bally Mfg. Corp. (Chicago, Ill.), 68 ¼ inches tall; a three-reel coin-op "Big Nugget" slot machine by Summit; a 1946 AMI Model-A "Mother of Plastic" jukebox with Art Deco-inspired streamlined details, 69 inches tall; a restored Vendo Model 39 Coca-Cola bottle dispenser, circa 1948-1957; and an Art Deco "Medalist" pool table by the Brunswick Balke-Collendar Company, with elephant column legs dating from 1928.

Garden accent pieces will include a Neoclassical-inspired marble garden bench and surround, 98 inches tall; two marble architectural pillars in the form of Atlas figures with foliate swags, 113 inches tall; a pair of Italian carved white marble wall fountains of two whispering putti surmounting the water basins, 59 inches tall by 58 inches wide; and a mother giraffe and her baby, measuring 188 inches and 113 inches high, respectively.

Classic furnishings fashioned from traditional and exotic woods will include a group of three carved Black Forest "musical" bears; an Italian marquetry inlaid canopy pub bar with putti and grapevine accents and mirrored backsplash; a parcel gilt figural swan bedstead; a pair of Moorish-style mother of pearl inlaid armchairs with exotic inlaid panels and leather upholstered seats; and a mahogany architectural birdcage in the form of a British raj palace on a table stand.
