Allstate Agent Steve Blume Raises Over $100,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Aug. 15, 2016 - PRLog -- Steve Blume's day job at Allstate involves helping people with their insurance needs. However, when he isn't saving the day at work, he's a St. Jude Hero who organizes events and donates his spare time to raise money for the well-known children's hospital.

The Run 4 Others Running Group

Steve coaches, trains, and mentors others through a running group called Run 4 Others, which runs races across the country to raise vital funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He provides his services for free but requests that participants in the program either commit to becoming or donating to a St. Jude Hero.  Over the last few years, his organization has helped raise more than $100,000 for the hospital.

Steve doesn't think of himself as a coach, though. He believes he's a motivator, leader, and organizer who has a passion for cheering people on and running for St. Jude. In fact, his partner, who is a long-time friend, shares his passion – and Steve gives most of the coaching credit to him.

Getting Started with St. Jude

Although he was a defensive tackle for Memphis State back in the 70s, Steve knew running for the St. Jude program some 40 years later would be challenging, but special and very rewarding. During his first St. Jude marathon, he recalled feeling "touched" by the camaraderie and swarms of bystanders cheering, "You can do it!" He specifically remembers running through the campus of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where the patients and their family members lined the streets to cheer with incredible gratitude.

Run 4 Others

Steve and his running friend, who has all of the required credentials, created the Run 4 Others program. It comes with a website including routes, paces, plans, speed sessions, and more, and members get individual coaching and mentoring, too. The two do not charge for the service, but instead ask that the participants either run for St. Jude or donate to someone who does. Over the last few years, the organization has raised more than $150,000 for the research hospital.
