Commemorative Pendants Honor Louisiana Victims

New Orleans Symbols Salute the Passion of Survivors of the State

NEW ORLEANS - Aug. 30, 2016 - PRLog -- America maintains the number one global position as the most charitable of any nation.  Ironically, when Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, hundreds of countries offered aid to the U.S. government for Katrina victims and according to the Red Cross there has been no other natural American disaster which has garnered more support.

It was this passion, and his upbringing in New Orleans, that inspired entrepreneur, Jacob Pazos, whose family has their Louisiana business rooted in retail jewelry, to create Revival NOLA---a limited edition jewelry pendant series of five New Orleans icons which will partially benefit Louisiana disaster charitable agencies.

"The response to Hurricane Katrina was phenomenal by individuals, charitable organizations foreign countries and corporate America.  However, the city still has many families in need and much repair to prevent such disasters again---add Baton Rouge, you can see the vulnerability of Louisiana to such horrific flooding.  We simply want to be a catalyst to this caring and hopefully see it continue because the people of New Orleans and Baton Rouge depend on this compassion," says Pazos.

The first series will be limited edition of 500 pendants in five categories.  Each pendant will be marked with its limited edition number.  "We chose these pieces as most reminiscent of the traditions or memories of New Orleans.

1) Shotgun double

There is possibly no other home that screams "New Orleans" more than a shotgun double. These iconic homes are beautiful examples of New Orleans culture and are uniquely designed, yet we may often take them for granted and even overlook them. At Revival NOLA we wanted to capture these works of art as a jewelry piece to honor their beautiful uniqueness.

2) Gallery home

New Orleans is a city known for its beautiful architecture. The two story gallery-style homes are ones that take your breath away when seen in person. Anyone who has driven through the Garden District knows how truly beautiful these homes are. They exude history and are majestic in their demeanor. The detail of wrought iron balconies, columns, and overall style were essential for us to capture when designing this piece. We worked tirelessly to capture every detail in order to appropriately and rightfully reflect the elegant style of these homes.

3) Jester Hat

A Jester hat immediately brings a local's mind to the Mardi Gras season—an experience unique to and cherished by New Orleanians. Seeing people dress up, wear masks, hats, beads, and other Mardi Gras-themed outfits are immediately brought to mind when seeing this piece. Mardi Gras holds lots of memories for locals. It's a time where the city seems to shut down and focus on having a good time. But more so, the jester hat encompasses the laid back, "laissez les bons temps rouler" attitude of New Orleans. We don't take ourselves seriously in this city. We like to be around people we love, kick back, and have a good time. This piece reminds us that we are a city who loves to enjoy life.

4) Bourbon Street

Bourbon street is a world-known street. For the tourists, it's the place to go. It's the place for beads and beers. For the locals, it's a place we're proud of. A place we can brag about and exemplify the eclectic culture of New Orleans in one concentrated street. Sure, it doesn't encompass New Orleans culture…I'm not sure any one thing could. But Bourbon street is a reminder. A reminder of fun times, fond memories, excitement, and unforgettable sights. Good or bad, we all have memories shared with this iconic street.

5) Cathedral

Possibly the most notable, recognizable, and unique landmark in all of the city. We all know what it's like to sit on the steps across from Jackson Square (backs to the river, face towards the city) and take in the beauty of the horse-drawn carriages parked in front of the gate draped with artwork all at the foot of this beautiful landmark. St. Louis Cathedral is a site that, once seen, will always be remembered.
