Tulsa Children's Chorus Kicks Off Its 26th Season

TULSA, Okla. - Aug. 13, 2016 - PRLog -- Back to Broadway is the theme for the upcoming season of the Tulsa Children's Chorus. On Saturday, August 27^th 2016, the Tulsa Children's Chorus (TCC) will begin its 26^th Season with its annual Fall Kickoff Event .  The kickoff is free and will be held at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, 1301 S Boston Ave, Tulsa from 10:00am – 3:00pm. The Fall Kickoff is for both new and returning singers in grades 3 through 12. This event will include special workshops, lunch, an ice cream social and plenty of singing. TCC is honored to have guest artist, Catherine Rattliff of Theatre Tulsa, to present one of the workshops.

Catherine Ratliff (Broadway Bound Music Director) is a native Oklahoman who got her start in the performing arts with Clark Theater's Onstage youth program. Catherine teaches a full voice studio in the Tulsa area using her credentials from The University of Oklahoma, The University of Kansas and The New England Conservatory. Catherine works as music director and organist at Ascension Lutheran church, and various theatre companies around Tulsa. Catherine served as music director for Theatre Tulsa's productions of Oliver, Legally Blonde, The Little Mermaid, Jr. and Next to Normal. In addition to being behind the piano, Catherine can be found on stage at Tulsa Opera as a former studio artist and chorister. Catherine loves sharing her knowledge and passion for music and theatre with everyone who crosses her path!

Rehearsals for the 2016-2017 season will begin on Tuesday, September 6 from 4:30-6:00pm at Boston Avenue Methodist Church. Rehearsals take place each Tuesday from September through May in preparation for upcoming events. Past performances include Thanksgiving Lights On at Utica Square with Grady Nichols, performing with native Oklahoman and Metropolitan Opera star Leona Mitchell and performing at Tulsa's Empty Bowls event. The upcoming season is sure to be filled with many more fantastic opportunities for members of the Tulsa Children's Chorus.

"I love to sing with TCC because it makes me happy", "I love singing because it makes me think anything is possible" and "I love learning new foreign languages that appear in the TCC repertoire" these are just a few of the reasons why children love to sing with the Tulsa children's Chorus. Charlotte Blakely, Artistic Director, states, "Helping children connect and grow through a love of music is my life's calling and TCC is my favorite place to do that!"
