Thirty years ago, Marvin Cummings sold his son, Michael, a box of sunglasses for $300.  Michael traveled up and down the California coast, selling those sunglasses from the trunk of his car.  He did so well, he bought more sunglasses and started Sunglasses, Unlimited.  He started off selling at trade shows, flea markets, and festivals.

Later, Marvin found himself squinting to read the paper, so they expanded the business to include reading glasses.  By then, it was no longer feasible to run the business out of Michael's apartment, so he and his dad invested in a warehouse.

When the reading glasses outsold the sunglasses by a margin of 3 to 1, the family changed the name to LA Readers.  Today they are still providing the highest quality reading glasses and sunglasses at the most affordable prices to both businesses and individuals.
