Washington Kastles Crown NY Empire, 22-13, In Mylan WTT Action

NEW YORK - Aug. 9, 2016 - PRLog -- Madison Brengle swept both her singles and doubles matches, leading the five-time defending Mylan World TeamTennis presented by GEICO champion Washington Kastles to a 22-13 victory over the New York Empire presented by Citi at Forest Hills Stadium at The West Side Tennis Club tonight.

The evening started with men's doubles, and the Empire duo of Andy Roddick and Neal Skupski ground out a 5-4 win over Stephane Robert and Treat Huey. Next came women's singles, in which Brengle moved the Kastles ahead to stay with a 5-0 triumph over Christina McHale. In men's singles, Robert defeated Roddick 5-3 to extend the visitors' lead to 14-8.

In women's doubles, Brengle and Andreja Klepac blanked McHale and Maria Irigoyen 5-0, before the mixed doubles tandem of Irigoyen and Skupski teamed to defeat Klepac and Huey 5-2 to send the match into extended play, where Klepac and Huey won the first game for the final margin.

The Empire (2-6) visit the Philadelphia Freedoms on Wednesday, before returning home for their final two matches at Forest Hills Stadium, Thursday vs. the Orange County Breakers and Friday vs. the San Diego Aviators, both at 7 p.m. Washington (4-4) hosts the San Diego Aviators on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in its next action.
