Emmet White is featured as a Kupuna Achiever on Hawaii News Now - Sunrise

HONOLULU - Aug. 17, 2016 - PRLog -- "Kupuna Achievers," a new segment on Hawaii News Now - Sunrise that highlights the vitality of Hawaii's kupuna, featured Emmet White on August 17, 2016. The segment highlighted White's contributions to the Arcadia Family of Companies the last 21 years. It also focused on White's dedication to providing a lasting legacy in urban and rural Hawaii.

Viewers learned more about Na Pu´uwai, a Native Hawaiian Healthcare organization dedicated to improving the status of the Native Hawaiians in the rural communities of Molokai and Lanai with respect to cultural beliefs and practices.

"Whether you're old in an urban environment or a rural environment, the problems are the same," White says.

Since 2006, White and the Family of Companies has provided its nearly 50 years of knowledge and expertise in senior living and senior care with the Na Pu´uwai personnel. Arcadia uses its own personnel to train and assist Na Pu´uwai with on the job observations, training, and teaching. On a quarterly basis, a representative with the Arcadia companies visits with kupuna on Molokai regarding home care and health for Molokai and Lanai seniors who have been designated for such help.

Arcadia continues to work with Na Pu´uwai to develop Tele Med services and technology which will better assist and improve the quality of life for our kupuna where ever they encounter the privilege of growing old.

Arcadia has been able to bring the "Vision" electronic medical records program to Na Pu´uwai to better serve their kupuna, as well as home care and home health services.

White, as a dedicated Kupuna Achiever and proud grandfather of seven , continues to honor the culture and traditions of rural kupuna while offering them modern day conveniences that come with advances in technology.

Na Pu´uwai, Inc. is a community-based Native Hawaiian organization on the island of Molokai, dedicated to the betterment of the health conditions of Native Hawaiians. It was founded in 1985 as an advisory committee to the Molokai Heart Study in collaboration with the University of Hawaii, the World Health Organization and the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.
