CHINO HILLS, Calif. - Aug. 9, 2016 - PRLog -- Bright Start brings American Teaching Strategies to China

Bright Start is now bringing their educational development programs to international classrooms. In July the educational group held an American Summer School camp at the Rise Learning Center in Jinhua, China, serving over 120 students from ages 3 to 14 years old. The classes introduced innovative teaching approaches to Chinese students and teachers.

"China is looking to America to help rejuvenate their classrooms," said Corrina Kay, a teacher from Hawaii. "This collaboration builds global relationships and helps students realize that we are interdependent as they lead us into the future."

Running from July 4 to July 18, the program focused on character development through targeted lessons in language arts and English language development. The curriculum was crafted by a team of five specialized educators from Hawaii and California, each with over 20 years of experience under their belt.

Maria Tarango, a teacher from Calfornia was surprised by the significant impact the American teachers left in a short time "My students engaged with the language rich content and enjoyed the hand-on activities. The strong bond established was evident when the students led presentations at the end of the program, displaying the English they learned."

While students were learning in the classroom, Bright Start Founder Gary Surdam trained the school's staff. Surdam introduced the teachers to engaging methods of instruction as the Chinese teachers participated alongside the American teachers. The teachers learned how to conduct cooperative, project based, and enquiry based learning in their own classrooms. The exchanged knowledge between the American and Chinese teachers is sure to leave a lasting impact on the way classrooms are run in this part of China.

"Childhood curiosity is universal," said Surdam. "Our American summer school teachers connected with the hearts of the Chinese students, enabling them to thrive and learn. This forged bond will help students achieve success in the 21st century"

Based in Southern California, Bright Start has been trusted in school districts across the United States to provide educational programs tailored to parents, teachers, and administrators. With a record of adapting to the community, Bright Start's multi-lingual programs challenge parents to see themselves as educational leaders and encourages cooperation in and outside the classroom promoting excellence in childhood education. Moving from the success of the trip, Bright Start will provide teacher training and leadership coaching in other Chinese cities in the future.
