Nerac to Host the Next XcellR8 Meeting August 11th

TOLLAND, Conn. - Aug. 9, 2016 - PRLog -- Nerac (www.nerac.com) is pleased to announce the next XcellR8 meeting which will be held Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Nerac headquarters in Tolland, CT. The XcellR8 meetings are high energy, interactive gatherings for entrepreneurs to pitch ideas and concepts and to brainstorm creative solutions to challenges. XcellR8 welcomes Elizabeth Pouya,  CEO and Founder of ProtectiScope.

The idea for ProtectiScope was conceived as a result of conversations with several physicians, students, and engineers as a means to develop a solution to the issue of stethoscope hygiene. Stethoscopes are one of the medical instruments most commonly used by all clinicians and yet there is little emphasis on their disinfection between seeing patients - despite hospital policies requiring this. With the majority of the nation's hospitals increasingly penalized for unacceptably high hospital-acquired infection rates, ProtectiScope is a convenient, easy and cost effective solution targeting non-compliance as a key factor of stethoscope hygiene.

ProtectiScope is currently in the startup phase and is looking to XcellR8 for assistance in making connections with key or major influencers in hospital administration, Medicare/healthcare insurance administrators or other knowledgeable individuals with experience who thoroughly understand this space.  Connections such as these are believed to be imperative when attempting to break through the regulatory layers associated with marketing and selling medical devices.

Ms. Pouya has been successful pitching ProtectiScope, receiving a First Place Award at Innovation Quest, as well as securing additional grants through the CCEI Summer Fellowship and the UConn Office of Undergraduate Research.  She is currently looking for additional funding opportunities and sources for grants to support beta development.

XcellR8, established as a networking cell in northeastern Connecticut, was one of four cells originally created by members of the Connecticut Technology Council executive board, including Nerac CEO, Kevin Bouley.
