New York City Autism Back To School Bash

An event connecting members of the New York Autism Community

NEW YORK - Aug. 8, 2016 - PRLog -- The American Autism Association is excited to announce our Back to School Bash for all the families impacted by autism in our local community. Members of the local autism community of New York City have been invited to receive sensory-friendly school supplies for children with autism from our Supplies for the Spectrum Collection, while connecting with other parents of children with autism and community partners.

The Autism Back to School Bash is free for families, and registration is mandatory for all attendees. It will take place on Sunday, August 14th from 1:00-3:30pm at Pearl Studios in Midtown, Suite 1204.

The goal of the event is to help alleviate the financial burden that parents face during back to school season, while also celebrating the beginning of a new school year in an autism-friendly and positive environment. In addition to providing free school supplies from sponsors such as Curemark, Jack Daniels Motors, and Different Roads, the event will offer family and autism friendly activities such as a photo booth, crafts, raffles, an interactive Soca dance performance by Bobcat Kids, and some sweet treats sponsored by Dough Donuts, TuLu's Bakery, and Insomnia Cookies.

The American Autism Association believes in supporting families and individuals that have been affected by autism by increasing awareness of the varied difficulties individuals with autism spectrum disorder face. Back to school can be an incredibly stressful period for parents of children with autism, who often lack the support systems and resources necessary to ease the transition. For this reason, the Autism Back to School Bash (https://www.myautism.org/events/autism-back-school-bash/) will provide information for parents looking to connect to additional resources and support for their child, including resources offered by the American Autism Association such as free of cost parenting workshops and therapeutic recreational programs.
