By: MSU Extended University Fall 2016 courses include 14 offerings in microbiology; Several popular courses are returning, including Geology of the Moon (Earth Science), The 12 Principles of Soil Science (LRES), Environmental Science Education: Fall Ecological Field Studies (EDCI) and Astrobiology for Teachers (Physics). Some courses are specifically designed to help elementary and middle school teachers incorporate more STEM into their classrooms, including "Teaching and Learning in Science: Elementary Space Science." Participating teachers will examine and deepen their own understanding of space science, uncover and correct misunderstandings, and explore different ways of learning particular topics. The course is geared towards K-8 grade teachers and will provide participants with hands-on curricula to explore the solar system from within the classroom. The courses are all part of Extended University's National Teachers Enhancement Network (NTEN), which has reached more than 20,000 science teachers in its 20-plus-year history.
