New Health Technology Designed to Help You Lose Those Stubborn Pounds Already

SAN DIEGO - Aug. 8, 2016 - PRLog -- Nearly 75% of U.S. adults are currently overweight. 38% are obese and 42% will be obese by 2030 according to reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Changes to National Dietary Guidelines, billion dollar investments in encouraging adherence to healthy living programs, and increasing numbers of people following dietary regimens have resulted in little to no overall improvement in body weight or body composition.

Though previously believed that 95% of people fail at their diets, the more accurate and precise interpretation of dieting trends has become that 95% of diets fail people. The significance of these trends is underscored by their health and economic costs, with research reports indicating that if U.S. overweight and obesity trends are to continue as they have for the past three decades, 86% of adults will be overweight or obese by 2030 and obesity-related medical costs will exceed $860 billion per year.

"The most overlooked reason why diets end in failure is that weight loss is different for everyone," says nutrition and health scientist Matt Riemann. In a recent address to the United Nations, Riemann – whose life's work is the education of health professionals and lay people alike about targeted and effective approaches to health promotion and disease prevention – emphasized the importance of changing the way overweight and obesity are addressed on a global scale.

"Science has proven, time and time again, that one size does not fit all when it comes to dietary needs. If we are to reverse the epidemics of overweight and obesity, we must make it our responsibility to personalize recommendations for each and every single person," said Riemann.

Health organizations have begun to evolve to address the long term health concerns of our nation and to better serve the public's needs. Personal Health 360 (ph360), a private health company at the forefront of health promotion and prevention for the last decade, has launched an innovative technology called Shae, Siri for Your Health, to provide personalized dietary recommendations that are up to date with existing science.

Dr. Sophia Godkin, a spokesperson for the company, says the technology "will help ensure that each person can proactively identify and address potential issues of overweight and obesity by understanding and implementing a dietary regimen designed specifically for their genetics, epigenetics, and biochemistry."

"We developed Shae to resolve current issues that exist in dietary guidelines and prescriptions and provide people with a way of knowing and doing what is right for them. The effects of a personalized dietary approach are already evident, with people in 17 countries reporting a 20% reduction in weight and improvement in sleep, energy, and mood from short-term use of ph360, the engine that runs Shae," says Godkin.

Only time will tell what innovations in health technology mean for the nationwide prevalence and trends of overweight and obesity.
