SAMMinistries Awarded Largest Grant To Serve San Antonio Veterans

The Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans' Assistance recognizes SAMMinistries for grant awards totaling $550,000.

SAN ANTONIO - Aug. 4, 2016 - PRLog -- Texas Veterans Commissioner Jim Scott of the Fund for Veterans' Assistance will visit San Antonio to recognize SAMMinistries for receiving two new grant awards valued at $550,000 to serve homeless veterans in San Antonio. The formal announcement and check presentation will take place on Monday Aug. 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at SAMMinistries Transitional Living and Learning Center, 5922 Blanco Rd., San Antonio, TX 78216.

"SAMMinistries is dedicated to supporting the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces and now call Military City USA their home. This grant will help further our efforts to end veteran homelessness," said SAMMinistries President and CEO, Navarra Williams.

This year's grant awards of $500,000 for homeless prevention and housing assistance and $50,000 for furniture assistance makes SAMMinistries the most significantly funded local agency receiving support from the Fund for Veterans Assistance. Last year, SAMMinistries was awarded $300,000 from the Texas Veterans Commission to help end veteran homelessness in San Antonio.

Media representatives attending this event will gain access to SAMMinistries President and CEO, Navarra Williams and Commissioner Jim Scott, for pictures and interviews discussing:

·         SAMMinistries efforts to end veteran homelessness

·         The grant awards that will help pay rent or utilities or provide other essential needs for San Antonio veterans

Ending the cycle of homelessness is critical to the health of our city and our future. SAMMinistries offers help, hope, and home to families and individuals by providing shelter, housing, and the support services needed to attain and maintain independence. SAMMinistries relies on community support to be successful in its quest to overcome homelessness.
