Local author, Annabelle M. Armstrong, will be available to sign copies of book Baton Rouge is known for its rich history, food, politics, music and universities. Perhaps overlooked are the stories of how this large port city's close-knit neighborhoods have adapted to changes over the years. Annabelle Armstrong deftly navigates the evolution of these historic communities, showcasing southern charm and romanticism through firsthand accounts of people who call these places home. Journey back to the beginnings of Hundred Oaks, Capital Heights, University Acres, Wimbledon, Tara, Inniswold, Glenwood, Walnut Hills, Stratford, Steele Place, Broussard, Southdowns and many more popular places to settle down. About the Author: Since she was sixteen, Annabelle Armstrong has been writing for newspapers, first in her hometown of Greenville, Mississippi, with the renowned publisher-editor Hodding Carter Jr. and later with the Advocate in Baton Rouge. After taking early retirement in 1986, she began writing across the area as a freelancer. In her sixth decade of journalism, a resident of Baton Rouge who has earned numerous journalistic awards, she continues to share subjects and sites with readers. A graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and recipient of its Alumni Distinguished Service Award, she works part time at the Louisiana State Archives. She is deeply grateful to her son, Kenny, and daughter, Delma, and for countless neighborhood leaders and historians for assisting with this project.
