By: Trenton Downtown Association, Inc. With musical roots tracing back to a talented family of singers and musicians, Lebron found his love for music at a young age. Adept at playing piano, guitar, drums, cowbells, among numerous other instruments, he hopes to bring back a fresh sound to the salsa genre. Lebron released a full-length salsa album in 2011, which featured respected musicians and well-known arrangers. He has toured as a back-up vocalist for a variety of the industry's top Latin artists such as Brenda K. Starr and Ismael Miranda. Tom Gilmour, executive director of The Trenton Downtown Association (http://www.destinationtrenton.com) says this concerts series is more than just entertainment. "The Levitt AMP Trenton Music Series supports our mission to encourage residents from all over the Capital Region to bring their families downtown on this weekend and/or the remaining Saturday evenings for free and safe musical entertainment in the temperate, relaxing setting of the historic Capital Green under the stars." The Levitt AMP Trenton Music Series, which takes place on the Capital Green located at 201 Barrack Street in downtown Trenton, is sponsored in part by the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation, a private family foundation that empowers communities to transform neglected public spaces into thriving destinations through the power of free, live music. The TDA was selected to receive a $25,000 grant to hold 10 free, family-friendly concerts to the public from July 23 – September 24, 2016 each beginning at 7:30 pm. Trenton-based NJM Insurance Group is also a presenting sponsor. The Capital Green was selected to hold the music series because it is an underutilized public lawn space that sits in the shadow of the State House. The location also benefits from being protected by the New Jersey State Police, who secures the Capitol Complex daily. In addition, Trenton Police Department partners with law enforcement throughout the entire city. "The Trenton Police Department is dedicated to working with the community to provide a safe environment for everyone to enjoy at all times," stated Lieutenant Stephen Varn of the Trenton Police Department. We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners, citizens and community groups to ensure that the downtown area becomes a haven in which businesses and entertainment may thrive." These free concerts are open to the public and everyone is invited to picnic and bring their own blankets and lawn chairs to the concerts to sit with their families to enjoy the music.
