SAN FRANCISCO - Aug. 2, 2016 - PRLog -- YOGO is excited to officially launch its new Food Trees for Poverty program — an international, environmental restoration and poverty-alleviation partnership that will help improve the quality of life for impoverished families in developing nations across the globe.

Beginning today, YOGO will donate one tree for every yoga mat purchase and provide supplies and sustainable agriculture farming to families for five years through our partner non-government organizations ("NGOs").

YOGO's Food Trees for Poverty program (through partner NGOs) will donate and plant one tree per yoga mat in an African, Central or South American country including Cameroon, Kenya, Senegal, Uganda, Tanzania, Belize, Honduras, and Panama. In addition to providing trees and farming supplies, our partner NGOs Trees for the Future and Sustainable Harvest International will work for five years with each family to provide sustainable agriculture and other training so that each family can independently and permanently feed and provide income for themselves. The NGOs also hire locally, providing long-term skills transferred to each region. Environmental benefits include an estimated one ton of sequestered carbon for each tree planted over its lifetime, in Latin America avoided deforestation of the rainforest, in Africa arid and degraded areas are converted into sustainable farmland.

By promoting restorative agriculture, the program presents a double-impact of healing the environment and providing long-term solutions for helping poor families help themselves.

"At YOGO we are committed to earth-friendly impacts not just within our supply chain, but through additional programs like Food Trees. Food Trees for Poverty provides durable livelihood solutions so that locals can independently sustain themselves and even create revenue over the long term. This is restorative agriculture and restorative aid," says Founder and CEO of YOGO, Jessica Thompson.
