The name change reflects the Company's expanding renewable energy strategy which, in addition to planned run-of-river hydropower facilities, now also includes solar photovoltaic and biomass projects.
The Company's President, Pete Hemingway, remarked, "The new name – Ruaha Energy – emphasizes our expanding renewable energy portfolio, which is being launched to deliver clean, sustainable electricity to villages and larger rural communities in Tanzania's underserved rural markets."
