Follow on Google News | So You Got Your Bamboo Flooring Installed? Tips on How to Maintain the Beauty of Your Bamboo FloorsNatural bamboo floorings are easy to clean and maintain. Check out these DIY tips suitable for your bamboo floors
By: Bamboozle Pty Ltd Clean Regularly The greatest threats to the beauty of bamboo floors are sand, dust, and other tiny particles. Never allow these particles to build on the surface over time. As people walk across the floor, these small particles can create scratches. Hence, it is always best to sweep or vacuum the surface in a regular manner. However, be careful in using vacuums because some electronic cleaners can cause damages. Make it sure that the vacuum you are using has a beater bar to clean a bamboo floor. You can also use a dry mop or a broom with soft bristles to clean your surface. Never Wet Mop Compared to other hardwood floors, bamboos are more resistant to damage from moisture. But, this does not mean that there is no danger of exposing your floor to moisture. Never use a wet mop in cleaning or immersing them in water. However, the damp mop can be used in removing surface stains and in picking up a small debris but never allow the bamboo to remain wet for a longer period of time. They are porous. Liquids can penetrate into the surface. Hence, it is imperative to wipe a spilled liquid immediately. Use A Natural Cleaning Solution A natural cleaning solution is a lot cheaper and safer to use for your bamboo surface. This is just an easy 'do it yourself' cleaning solution. All you need to have is a ¼ cup of white vinegar and a quart of water. Mix them and use this solution to safely clean your floor. Use a damp sponge or a rag wrung dry before applying into the surface. Preventative Maintenance If you wish to keep the beauty of your bamboo floor, it is always best to set up a preventive maintenance plan. These include, but not limited to, the following: 1. Ensure that high-heeled shoes have padding on the tip of the heel to prevent your floor from getting damaged. 2. Ask people to remove their shoes as they enter your house or room to prevent scratches and scuff marks. 3. Always keep your pets' nails trimmed to cut down scratches on the surface. 4. Never drag heavy furniture across the floor as these can also create damages and scratches. 5. Place rugs or mats on wet environments such as bath stalls or in front of sinks.
