NEW YORK - July 31, 2016 - PRLog -- NEW YORK: Parachute Safari, the newly launched production company founded by a husband and wife duo, recently produced their first project, Thanksgiving. This film is a short drama that follows an adopted women's search for her real parents after a strained Thanksgiving dinner with her conservative southern family. This nine-and-a-half-minute film was shot in Weehawken, New Jersey by seasoned director, Jeremiah Kipp.

The writer and lead, Charito Mertz, a Filipino actress, tells the story of an outsider finding her place in the world. This is a narrative theme both in front of and behind the camera. With the recent "white-washed" Oscars controversy exposing Hollywood's lack of diversity, it's necessary for minority talent like Charito to create their own content in order to be heard. "Most ethnic roles can lack grit, there's a bigger world with indie films." Charito explains.

Parachute Safari's creative director, Luke Mertz, also finds the traditional production avenues lacking.  Luke is a music producer with songs featured in film and television. His most recent credits include Brad Furman's The Infiltrator starring Bryan Cranston and the CW's hit show iZombie . "I watch films and tv shows and listen to music and think, we can do better. I want to do work that is rooted in art and the artist," says Luke.

Parachute Safari currently has two projects in development that will show their range, but they believe Thanksgiving is their calling card. Festival runs and screenings will be announced early 2017.
