Creator of fantastic castles

It´s a documentary film that explores the fantasy of José Olvera, a Mexican who refuses to grow. Since childhood, he build castles and miniature houses with tiny stones and even preserved. The buildings glued with cement at his home and his neighborhood in Mexico are a paradoxical search for permanence.

Diana is an Ecuadorian filmmaker. His works are characterized by showing situations and characters that seemingly go unnoticed in daily life, but they are powerful, sensitive and extraordinary. In this case, she discovered José. His history could have come from a fantasy tale.

José is enclosed within the sensitivity and the child we all need to become better people. Be part of this documentary project and allows Diana to carry it out. The whole world needs to know José. José needs you.

In 2011 she won a scholarship in Mexico. She was part of an artistic residence to develop The Hanged a short film about the clothes hanging in the sun.

"In my stay in Mexico and in my travels through this beautiful country, I met José. A builder of fantastic castles. I recorded him. I tried to include it in the film, but decided to separate and dedicate one film only for him. After two months of returning to Ecuador I suffered a stroke, a brain aneurysm that nearly ended my life. It was very hard the whole process of recovery and rehabilitation of my memory. It's been 4 years since that event and I must finish the edition of this great character and friend. Help me to finish it." Says Varas.
