WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - July 28, 2016 - PRLog -- A new player has joinedthe Westchester weddings and other special events scene and it's not the"same old, same old."  In fact, with the opening of Hudson Loft in the idyllic Village of Irvington-on-Hudson, it is a refreshing departure as Westchester's only industrial chic event space offering a sophisticated Brooklyn/SoHo-like feel.

The first-of-its-kind high-end events venue in Westchester, located near the Irvington waterfront, Hudson Loft was created by converting the top floor of a three-story warehouse building at 2 South Astor Street into 9,000 square feet of raw industrial space.

Hudson Loft's distinguishing features include exposed original concrete walls, high ceilings, vintage raw steel beams, exposed duct work, circular shaped  custom metal chandeliers arrayed with multiple spotlights, hardwood floors, large windows offering spectacular views of the Hudson River and a freight elevator to transport guests to and from the street entrance.

The open floor plan includes a huge main room of 6,600 square feet that can accommodate parties of up 250 guests for a catered, seated dinner and up to 450+ guests for cocktail receptions. In addition, the space includes an event suite with private bathroom, large kitchen, office and rest rooms.

Hudson Loft brings together the complementary visions and creative talents of William Thompson, long-time commercial real estate developer/property manager and Irvington resident and Tobi Schmidt, also of Irvington, a special events marketing entrepreneur.

The idea of bringing a unique events venue to the area began with Thompson whose partnership group has long been involved in helping to revitalize the Irvington waterfront. As a result of renovating and painstakingly restoring the former 100-year-old Lord and Burnham Greenhouses factory into a brand new, environmentally friendly green building and constructing a new three-story building nearby, Thompson's partnership attracted a diverse group of  tenants—several from Manhattan—in the marketing, publishing, video and film production, technology and retail sectors.

The partnership also helped to transform the once grey industrial site into a bright and popular dining destination by leasing space to the Red Hat on the River, MP Taverna and Chutney Masala Indian Bistro. Along the way, the Irvington waterfront became known as the "SoHo on the Hudson."

Thompson's interest in creating a distinctive events venue near the Irvington waterfront was shared by another professional he knew, Ms. Schmidt. As a long-time photo producer and locations manger/specialist, she gained a vast knowledge of warehouse/raw space in Brooklyn and Manhattan from various photo shoots she produced for a wide range of clients.

As it turns out, the ideal place for what would become Hudson Loft was part of Thompson's commercial real estate portfolio known as Astorbuck Properties, also located near the Irvington waterfront.  Recalls Schmidt:  "When we walked through the space, we realized that with some tender loving care, we could transform this dark and unfinished floor into the perfect spot for event planners, brides and others who love working in a raw space to plan their special day."

She added: "Every thing about Hudson Loft is top-drawer from every thought-out design detail to the list of preferred vendors. We have made it a priority to connect and partner with renowned caterers, entertainment providers and other essential vendors that can be found our website: www.hudsonloftny.com."

Thompson explained: "Until now, the choice of wedding receptions in the region was limited to hotels, clubs, historic estates and wedding palaces. Hudson Loft changes that. For brides and others who want to create an event uniquely their own, Hudson Loft offers a refreshingly different alternative and one that is part of a growing trend."

"Hudson Loft will be a highly desirable, convenient, centrally located and welcome addition to the events scene in the region and one that is in keeping with the ongoing revitalization of the Irvington waterfront area,. Once again, we have breathed new life into an aging industrial space for the changing lifestyles of the 21st century. We are excited by Hudson Loft's potential," Thompson concluded.

A launch party to celebrate the opening of Hudson Loft, which will be attended by distinguished guests, is planned sometime in the early fall.  For more information, contact Ms. Schmidt via e-mail: tobi@hudsonloftny.com.
